Marvel Welcomes Greg Capullo Back To The Fold At SDCC

At the highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con, retailers were treated to an exclusive lunch hosted by Diamond Comics, featuring special guests Marvel VP of Print and Digital David Gabriel and Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski. Excitement filled the room as attendees got the inside scoop on upcoming projects, new titles and various covers. The highlight of the event was the announcement of industry legend Greg Capullo’s return to Marvel Comics later this year.

Known for his extraordinary work on X-Force in the 1990s and various influential runs throughout the comic book world, Capullo is making his long-awaited return to Marvel after decades. The entire Marvel team is proud to have him back on the team. Fans were excited to get a glimpse of Capullo’s first new creation for the Marvel Universe, an explosive variant cover of WOLVERINE #37. This top-secret classified version cover will hit comic book stands on September 20th, and pre-orders are available now.

But that’s not all! Capullo is set to provide an action-packed cover for a special one-shot, DEADPOOL: SEVEN SLAUGHTERS #1, out in November. Promising to feature seven kills in seven days, this thrilling issue offers an intense and blood-soaked collection of stories about mercenary extraordinaire, Deadpool. The one-shot will feature contributions from fan-favorite Deadpool creators, including co-creator Rob Liefeld, Gail Simone, Cullen Bunn, and more.

Another major reveal that had retailers buzzing was Marvel Comics’ plan to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Spider-Man Superior. Following October’s SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN RETURNS, the creative team of writer Dan Slott and artist Mark Bagley will reunite for an ongoing SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN series. Building on their current successful Spider-Man run, the new series promises a “superb bill” as Spider-Man confronts a terrifying new villain from his past. The threat will have the power to unleash havoc on New York, while Doc Ock makes a life-changing discovery in this epic tribute to everything that made Spider-Man superior.

The identity of the new villain is being closely guarded, but fans can look forward to her debut in SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN RETURNS before wreaking havoc on Otto, Peter and more in the ongoing series.

Marvel fans can take a look at these tantalizing covers now and stay tuned for more exciting news from San Diego Comic-Con throughout the weekend. For more information and updates, visit Marvel.com.
